Rest area along the I-5 right at Weed Airport, offers 12 pull through spaces for trucks and RVs, both on the southbound and northbound sides for overnight stays. The southbound also has a dirt lot that trucks, RVs, and cars are using to overnight. California State allows only 8 hour max stay at its rest areas, however, we’ve always stayed 12 hours or more and have never been hassled by the man. We’ve noticed other RVers who stayed here for longer than 8 hours too. Like most other rest areas, there’s always noise from trucks parked next to you, but we had an uneventful night stay here. BONUS: You get an awesome view of Mt. Shasta here.

Car camping with another female friend and we first tried to pull into the Northbound rest stop to crash around 10 PM, but within 20 seconds of getting out of our car to walk to the bathroom a group of creepy men approached us saying ’hey Babycakes, can we wash your windows for free?’ Immediately turned around and drove 15 minutes to loop around and stay at the Southbound stop where we easily got a spot. We saw a no overnight parking sign but decided to risk it and didn’t have any issues. Bathrooms are in great condition, and the view of Mt. Shasta is stunning here. A bit noisy in the night as rest stops can be, but minus the unsavory characters hanging on the North side, this was a decent night’s sleep. Aoife would stay here again.

’Lobby was nice and clean check in was smooth. We were given coins for free beverages to be used at the connecting cafe both for dinner and breakfast and discount on fuel fill-up as well. The room was clean, a little crowded with two queen beds..but the beds and pillows were comfortable. We were on the front side, so surprised at how quiet it was and we had a great nights sleep.’
